Disappointed! XiaoMi Cheats Buyers By Quietly Changed Mi3′s Processor To Snapdragon 800 MSM8274AB

When XiaoMi Mi3 being announced a few months before, it was described as the world’s fastest smartphone and also the first smartphone with Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB processor. The popular Chinese brand finally offered the Xiaomi Mi3WCDMA version on sale two days ago but buyers reported that the devices received are different from the one advertised by XiaoMi.
Several users posted on the XiaoMi forum that the XiaoMi Mi3 devices received were not powered by the much-advertised Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB but another Snapdragon 800 processor – MSM8274AB. Many of the buyers had reported to the Chinese authorities regarding this issue.
One of the buyers had posted out the benchmark score of the XiaoMi MI3 with MSM8274AB. It seems like the performance of Snapdragon 800 MSM8274AB is on par with MSM8974AB, still top of all Smartphones in the market.Buy cheap android phones from China.
On the other hand, XiaoMi website still listed that the Mi3 WCDMA version is powered by a quad-core processor of Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB series. There is a footnote below stated that Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB series has three models -MSM8974AB, MSM8674AB and MSM8274AB. The footnote is clearly a misleading statement because MSM8674AB and MSM8274AB are not under the Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB.
Actually, Snapdragon 800 series has four different models – MSM8974 (4G LTE), MSM8674 (CDMA), MSM8274 (HSPA+) and MSM8074 (no modem). All models of Snapdragon 800 series have the same performance except the modem chipset inside. This is why the benchmark score of MSM8274AB is still top.
It is a truth that Xiaomi Mi3 WCDMA doesn’t come with a Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB inside. Many buyers had expressed their disappointment on the XiaoMi forum on this issue. A popular brand likes XiaoMi should not mislead the consumers with wrong information about their products.
A few years before, HTC was found to be involved in the same issue as HTC One S was found to have a different processor from the advertisement. The Taiwanese company had suffered reputation damage due to this issue.
